Since we camp in my Tesla now, we got an electric spot with hookups right by the river! The campground also has restrooms with showers.

Camping at Fernwood Big Sur

For this camping trip, we purchased a new SUV tent and we were eager to try it out! The tent fits on to the back of my Tesla and can fit 4-5 people inside. It took less than an hour to set up and was very spacious inside!

The actual campsite was right next to a hiking trail. The downside of this is that there is a lot of foot traffic during the day. We went on that hike and if you keep going, it leads to a waterfall.

We were next to a river as well and it was nice to just sit and relax or play board games.

The bar and grill had delicious food and even had live music! If you don’t want to cook your own food, you will definitely want to stop at this restaurant.

We did bring food to cook and tried out our new MSR stove for the first time! We cooked eggs, bacon and spam for breakfast and had hot dogs and ramen for lunch.

The weather during our trip at the end of April 2022 wasn’t too bad. It was hot during the day if you’re in the sun but did get chilly at night. Make sure to bring warm clothes and firewood as well for a campfire.

Camping at Fernwood Resort had a completely different experience and vibe compared to other campsites we’ve been to such as Pinnacles National Park or Yosemite National Park and was worth the visit!
