Cebu

Sardine Run

Cebu is a province located in Central Philippines and is much more tropical compared to other islands like Bohol. You’ll be amazed by the white beaches, beautiful waterfalls (Kawasan Falls is a must-see), and breath-taking underwater life (sardines and whale sharks to name a few)!

Getting There

By Plane

You can get to Cebu by flying into the really nice international airport here. The airport looked very modern and reminded us of being at LAX. We flew to Cebu from El Nido through Air-swift and the flight was only about an hour and a half.

By Ferry

If you are coming from a different area like Bohol, you can get to Cebu by ferry as well. We did travel by ferry but from Cebu to Bohol.

Things to Do

There are a variety of activities and attractions that you can see while you are in Cebu. You can either go on your own or with a tour. We opted to go on two private tours with this company. They were very professional and provided light refreshments. The transportation was also air conditioned and private!

Swimming with Whale Sharks

Swimming with whale sharks is one of the most remarkable experiences that you can have in Cebu! Seeing these gentle giants up close in crystal-clear water is truly a one of a kind moment.

Sardine Run

The sardine run in Moalboal, Cebu is definitely a must-do if you are in the Philippines! Witnessing these millions of sardines moving around is unbelievable and breathtaking. This was probably the best underwater experience we’ve had so far. Even if you don’t know how to dive, you will still enjoy this incredible spectacle!

Sumilon Island Sandbar

Sumilon Island Sandbar is a beautiful island with crystal clear water located in Oslob. It is the perfect destination after a long day of swimming with whale sharks!

After our tour with the whale sharks, we took a 15 minute boat ride to this sandbar.

Where to Stay

In the other islands that we visited before Cebu, the accommodation was pretty basic and so when we arrived at Shangri-La in Mactan, we were blown away! This luxury resort was huge with numerous restaurants and bars and offered all kinds of water activities. You can go snorkeling here and even jet-skiing. They also have a magnificent infinity pool.

If you get bored, the resort also has a photo scavenger hunt. Basically, the map tells you all of the good photo spots. Brea and I were able to get to some of them haha.

They even had a really nice gym.

The food options here were amazing. They have a couple buffets and one of them had a lechon parade. I guess we came during sinulog haha.
