Day 12 – The Chandelier Tree

Chandelier Tree

We wanted to do something quick and simple for day 12 (October 10, 2018) so the location we picked was The Chandelier Tree. The special thing about this tree is that it has chandeliers hanging on it and they are usually lit. I say usually because we made the mistake of not looking it up beforehand. If we did look it up, we would have read that the lights are turned off now due to some noise complaints.

Address/Directions

Address: W. Silver Lake Dr. &, Shadowlawn Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90039

Parking

The Chandelier Tree is located in a residential area so we just parked on the street and walked up to the tree. Since it is in a residential area, just be mindful of the people there and to not make a lot of noise.

The Chandelier Tree

The tree is considered a sculpture on Google maps and is a pretty popular thing to go see (when the chandeliers are lit up). You can still get a picture of the tree though and you can also see the chandeliers if you walk up close to it. The chandelier tree is located in front of someone’s house and the owner maintains it. Apparently the owner is trying to get city permits to be able to light up the chandelier lights again. It is considered public property as they decorated the tree on the sidewalk.

We hope they get permission so we can see the beautiful lights!

We’ve ran into issues when visiting places during our 27 day adventure. This isn’t the first. Don’t make the same mistake that we did by not looking it up before we went.

Check it out on Yelp first.
