Hours
This magnificent waterfall is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. However, to avoid crowds we suggest going earlier in the day.
Admission
There is a small entrance fee to Kawasan Falls: 45 pesos for foreigners and 20 pesos for locals. There are extra costs if you want to do cliff-jumping or canyoneering. Our visit to this waterfall was part of our tour package when we did the sardine run so we didn’t have to pay for anything extra.
You can purchase additional packages at the entrance.
Directions
Kawasan Falls is located 4 hours south of Mactan (where we stayed). Some people also stay closer in Moalboal – it’s really more what you prefer.
Kawasan Falls
Visiting Kawasan Falls was part of our Pescador Island Hopping/Sardine Run tour. After the sardine run, our driver drove us to the entrance of the waterfall After that, one of the guides walked with us to the actual falls. The walk is about 10 to 15 minutes each way.
You do see some beautiful scenery along the way too.
Our guide also carried our life vests for us since it is a requirement if you want to swim in the waterfall.
There are a lot of vendor booths on the trail to the waterfall. You can buy shirts, hats, water, or snacks. We also noticed that there were a lot of signs to ensure that visitors don’t get lost.
Because Kawasan Falls is such a big tourist attraction, it didn’t surprise us that much that it was packed with people. It is impossible to get a photo without someone in the background.
Brea and I decided not to go swimming because we had done enough swimming that day. So we decided to just take photos. There are some rocks that you can stand on to get a better view.
Our friend that went with us did decide to swim and even swam all the way behind the waterfall!
The water at Kawasan Falls was indeed stunning, however, it was just too crowded for our liking. If we do visit here again, we would most likely go first thing in the morning. If you are looking for an activity that anyone can enjoy, make sure to add this to your itinerary!
