Snorkeling in Cancun

The clear waters of Cancun in Mexico offer some of the best snorkeling locations. You can see beautiful coral life as well as underwater creatures!

Tours

There are many tours you can choose from. We decided to do a private tour with Total Snorkel.

Snorkeling in Cancun

The pick up time for this tour can range from 7AM to 5PM. For a private tour (with round trip transportation from our resort), it costs $420 USD.

You actually don’t spend too much time in the water on this tour. You only spend about 2 hours in the water. With the travel time, the tour lasts 3.5 hours.

One good thing about this tour is that they do have a photo package for $45 USD. They will take pictures and videos of you and then put them all on a memory card for you to take home.

You are required to wear a life vest on this tour.

When we went on this tour in October 2019, it was actually rescheduled because the original day we chose had a lot of thunderstorms. Luckily we were able to move the tour to a different day and it didn’t interfere with our other plans.

Reef, MUSA, Turtle, and Shipwrecks

On this tour, you’ll be able to see coral reef, turtles, shipwrecks, and an underwater museum! Just be careful of the coral because our friend accidentally bumped into some coral that turned out to be FIRE coral. He was hurting and his head was burning.

One mistake we made was that we stayed out late the night before. Having a hangover and being on a boat do not mix well.

However, we still managed to see some pretty cool statues underneath the water!

Lesson learned! We will always save our late nights for the end of our trip (after all of our tours). The water was also pretty rough so make sure to wear your life vest. If we do end up in Cancun again, we would probably re-do some of these locations.
