For day 17 (October 15, 2018), we went to a pop-up museum/experience called Pizza Experience in LA. I’m glad that we found this place when we did because it had just come to LA in the beginning of October which worked out perfectly for our 27 days! It was empty enough to spend as much time as we wanted in each room without other groups of people.

Address/Directions
Address: 129 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103
Admission
General admission tickets cost $25 each plus tax and fees. When we bought our tickets, there was no promotion yet but there is one now for $5 off on weekdays so make sure you check that out on their website. General admission will not only include entrance to the museum, but also pizza! You can also buy your tickets at the door.
Parking
The Pizza Experience is located in Old Pasadena so you will need to find street parking. We parked on East Holly Street and paid for 2 hours.
The parking meter takes credit cards, cash and coins. You can also pay by phone via an app. See picture below.
The Pizza Experience
The Pizza Experience/Museum has over 10 different rooms with numerous props that you can use for pictures. Every room is unique and interactive. The good thing about the day that we went was that we only had 1 other group of people with us. So we were free to spend as much time as we wanted in each room and didn’t feel rushed or anything.
The staff will only let you in on the time slot you selected and will give you a little speech about pizza and the museum before letting you go free.
Pizza Nightclub
The first room is a pizza nightclub, which we loved. Throughout the whole museum, there are signs with funny sayings about pizza like this one –
This room also has several DJ booths with headsets and pizza themed turntables. You can put on the headsets and know what being a DJ feels like!
We spent quite some time here taking pictures. When the only group that came with us moved on ahead, this gave us even more time and space to just have fun with the props.
After we were satisfied with the photos we took, we moved on to the next room.
Pizza Gym
This was probably our favorite room not only because it was really creative and fun, but also because it fit in perfectly with Brea and her fitness routines.
There were a lot of signs in this room and workout equipment made out of pizza.
You can get really innovative with your pictures using what’s available in the room, like this pizza dangling in front of you as you work out.
Pizza Dough Bean Bags
The next room had bean bag chairs that resembled pizza dough. You can sit here and relax since you did just finish a hard workout.. You can also check out the art on the frames. They are scratch-and-sniffs and have different pizza flavors to smell.
Pizza Gallery
This room is more informational and will remind you more of a real museum. There are some art sculptures and also different types of pizza on display that you can read about. The pizza on display is NOT real. Do NOT eat. You will get real pizza right after this room.
This is a giant tower of pizza slices.. it’ll make you wonder how many slices you can fit in your own stomach. I can’t decide if this tower of pizza looks intimidating or delicious.
Pizza Round Table Throne Room
The next room is sponsored by Round Table Pizza and there is a castle made out of round table pizza boxes. There’s also a throne that you can sit on. When we visited this room, there was staff there who had a sword prop that we used in our photos.
You can sit on this throne and be the king/queen of pizza. The staff will serve you pizza to make the experience more authentic in their knight and devil costumes!
This was also where we received our first free pizza slices. Surprisingly, they weren’t that bad even though they were probably left out for a while.
You also get a free Pepsi can. If you get thirsty, make sure to save the Pepsi can. There will be one more stop that you can get free pizza at after this room.
After you get your pizza slices, you can eat it in the living room next door.
Pizza Living Room
Why be a couch potato when you can be a couch pizza? We ate our pizza slices here while watching a TV that was in front of us.
Pizza Apartment
Once you’re done eating, you will enter an apartment made out of pizza. This is also where there are costumes that you can wear. We didn’t try any on but the group that was in front of us did.
I wonder what Brea wrote on that notepad.
Cauliflower Room
I thought that this hallway was very appealing to the eyes. The wall in the back says “I dream of cauliflower” and the room has different kinds of props that you can use.
The cauliflower room also gave out free cauliflower pizza slices. They were good! Brea gets thirsty while eating and made the mistake of throwing her can away in the other room.
Pizza Making Station
One of the last areas was a pizza making station. You can practice and attempt to flip the dough as if you are a professional pizza maker! The dough is not real. It is made out of play doh in case you were wondering. Brea was able to do it pretty well. Staff members will be there to help instruct you in case you aren’t already a pro at tossing pizza dough. No experience necessary!
Finally, there is a small, tiny, freestanding backdrop next to the pizza making station with dangling tomatoes.
Heads up – it might look bigger than it is from our pictures. That’s just our lens.
As you exit, there is a small gift shop if you want to purchase anything. They also give out free discounts to nearby pizza places.
Brea and I have been to a few pop-up museums but we both agree that the Pizza Experience was the best one so far, especially for the price-point. We really liked that every room was interactive, photo-op friendly, and provided a different aspect of pizza. It was also nice that the museum was not crowded yet so we could take our time and really enjoy all of the rooms. We would recommend this experience for everyone.
