Refinery29’s 29Rooms is an interactive pop-up museum that only happens for a few weeks in Los Angeles and New York. We went last year in 2018 and it is happening again now so make sure to get your tickets before they sell out! What makes 29Rooms unique is that it features many rooms (29 to be exact) that explore art, activism, culture, and technology from various brands, visionaries, and non-profit organizations.

Directions
Last year, 29Rooms in LA was located at The Reef (1933 South Broadway Los Angeles, CA 90007) and it was pretty spacious.
However, this year it is located at the Beverly Venue.
Address: 4315 Beverly Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90004
Parking
You can park in the nearby parking garages or use street parking.
29Rooms
Although you have a whole 2.5 hours to experience all 29 rooms, make sure to arrive early because you actually might run out of time.
Last year, we went a little late and since the more popular installations had lines, we didn’t get to see all of the art pieces that we wanted to see.
Here were some of the rooms we visited:
Sonic Sanctuary & Sonic Shadow
These rooms make up rooms 3 and 4 and are located in a dark area. You won’t be able to see much except some red light but you will feel some sonic vibrations.
A Long Line of Queendom
Movie Set
This installation featured the phrase “Hollywood Can’t Win Without Women” on a billboard behind a director’s chair. You can sit on the chair and pose for a picture as if you are on a movie set.
The Full Picture
Star Matter
Room 11: This was one of the rooms that had a line to take a picture under the full moon. Depending on how many people there are, you might have to wait a while to get your photo.
29 Questions
29 Questions is room #12 and is one of the more interactive pieces. You will be interacting with new people at your table – sharing stories and answering personal questions.
Money Mantras
The Values Stand
At The Values Stand (Room 15), you can stand behind a fake news-stand and hold up signs that reflect some of the current values that are in the spotlight.
A Conversation With Your Inner Child
In this next room, room number 18, you will be having a conversation with your inner child! Use your imagination here. The first part will involve you writing a note to yourself on a pink post-it. The second area features crystals hanging from the ceiling.
No Filter
Rooms 23 and 24 uses light in a way that creates ‘filters’ and transforms your environment. The lines for these two rooms are very long and we spent our last minutes waiting for these two installations.
Deep Sea Galaxy
This room was actually the first room we visited but it is room number 28 (at the end). This art installation is in collaboration with Kesha and conveys a room that is both in space and in the ocean! I really like the green color here.
As you can see, even though we had 2 hours here, we only managed to visit about half of the rooms. There are also other things to see as well so you definitely will need all of the time you get!
The rooms this year are a little different. Here are some new ones featured on their website:
The Art Park
Now Casting: Female Storytellers
The Traveling Billboard
Dance Break
You Are Magic
Blind Date With Destiny
Make Your Mark
Merchandise & Snacks & Drinks
You can purchase merchandise here as well as drinks and snacks.
29Rooms offered a different experience from the other pop-up museums that we go normally go to. Not only did we get to take photos and explore 29 different art rooms, we were able to experience them differently as well. We bought tickets for this year’s 29Rooms and will update you after we go!
