Tegalalang Rice Terrace

Tegalalang Rice Terrace

Tegalalang Rice Terrace is one of the most popular and beautiful attractions to visit in Ubud, Bali. You have most likely seen a picture of these iconic green, luscious rice paddies!

Hours

Tegalalang Rice Terrace is open everyday from 8AM to 6PM. If you want to visit during sunrise, you will be there before some of the gates are open. However, our tour guide managed to find an opening for us to go down to the paddies.

Directions

Address: Jl. Raya Tegallalang, Tegallalang, Kec. Tegallalang, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80561, Indonesia

Tegalalang Rice Terrace is located 20 minutes north of Ubud. When Brea and I visited Bali, we stayed in the South Kuta area so it was about an hour drive north.

Admission

There isn’t an entrance fee, however, they do take donations.

Parking

There isn’t parking lot or anything specific to this location so you will need to find street parking. Luckily, our tour guide/driver took care of this for us.

These rice paddies are vast. We only went down 1-2 sets of stairs but you can go all the way into the rice paddies if you wanted to. Since we got there before sunrise, we didn’t see many people and most of the gates were closed. Our tour guide helped us to find an open one and also this I Love Bali sign.

Brea was even able to fly her drone here! Be aware that there are bugs and mosquitos though.

We spent about an hour total taking photos and watching the sunrise over the paddies. It was truly amazing.

There are other rice terraces located in Bali and we stumbled upon another one on the way the next day.

A visit to Bali is not complete without making a trip to one of the many rice terraces, especially Tegalalang Rice Terrace. We suggest visiting earlier in the day to avoid the heat and the crowds. You won’t be disappointed!

If you have time, check out this hidden waterfall!
