Day 7 – The Last Bookstore

Book hole in The Last Bookstore

For day 7 out of 27 (October 5, 2018), we stopped by The Last Bookstore in LA. This book store is located next to a lot of other popular locations such as Pershing Square and the Bradbury Building. It’s also close to Weller Court, where we visited the light tunnel. A burger place that we like to go is near by too – you should check it out if you like burgers.

Parking

This may not come as a surprise to anyone, but finding parking in downtown LA can be extremely frustrating. We drove around for a few minutes before settling on parking in an open lot. There is an attendant and the lot is well lit so it looks pretty safe. They take cash only.

From here, the book store is only about a 5 minute walk.

When you first walk in, there is someone at the door checking bags. For big backpacks and purses, you are not allowed to bring it in so there are cubicles to leave your belongings. There are all kinds of books in the store as well as records. We walked around a bit looking at all of the different aisles and subjects. They sell used and brand new books and records.

Then we went to the second level of the store and there are two really neat photo opportunities here.

Second Level of The Last Bookstore

The first one is a half arch made out of purely books. Because there is still small spaces in between each book, there is a light affect coming from the other side. This makes the arch have a glow.

The second photo spot is a hole in between a stack of books. Depending on how many people are there, you may have to wait your turn before taking photos.
