Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Bali has many beautiful waterfalls that you can spend days visiting. One of the least famous (and as a result, less crowded) waterfalls is Tukad Cepung hidden near Ubud. What makes this waterfall unique is the majestic light rays cascading over the water – it was surreal.

Hours

Tukad Cepung Waterfall is open everyday from 6AM to 5PM. However, we don’t recommend going too late or too early because the light rays might not be out yet.

Directions

Address: Jl. Tembuku, Dusun Penida Kelod, Tembuku, Kabupaten Bangli, Bali 80671, Indonesia

Tukad Cepung is about an hour drive from Ubud. We hired a driver for the whole day which made things easier since we don’t know our way around.

Admission

There is a small entrance fee when you get to the front of 15,000 IDR.

Parking

There is a free parking lot at Tukad Cepung next to some small shops where you can buy snacks and beverages.

Since we came here after visiting the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, we were there before 9AM. The light rays were not really out yet and it was pretty dark but at least it wasn’t crowded. From the parking lot, you will walk for about 15 minutes and you will go down some steps. Once you get closer to the waterfall, it can get wet so be careful!

There are basically two areas to take photos. If you have a tripod, you should bring it. The first spot to take a picture is on top of this rock. You can climb up to the top but the floor might be slippery.

The second spot is in the water between the rock formations. This is where the sun rays would shine through. You can go in in your swimwear if you want but the water might be cold and will be hitting your face.

Overall, this was a potentially beautiful waterfall if the light rays were more pronounced. However, we still enjoyed our time especially because we were able to avoid the crowd. This was just one of the many waterfalls we visited in Bali!
