Valley of Fire
One of the main reasons we wanted to make the trip to Valley of Fire is because of the spectacular red rock formations. We also saw a really good photo opportunity on a random road and so decided that we were going to try to find it as well.
There are campgrounds and numerous hiking trails if you want to camp or hike. However, you can also enjoy Valley of Fire by just driving around. Brea and I drove from spot to spot. There was one attraction where we had to hike though. Depending on when you visit, the weather might be extremely hot so make sure to bring water and sunscreen.
Rock Formations
Right as you enter the park, you will be surrounded by beautiful rock formations. There are some that resemble animals and beehives! Be careful if you climb on top of any though. There are also stunning arch formations (similar to the Arches National Park in Utah).
Rainbow Vista
These are rainbow painted mounds that you can see in the horizon.
The Fire Wave
This is one of the more popular attractions in the Valley of Fire and you need to hike to it. It is about a 1.5 mile round trip hike. On the day that we visited, it was very hot so it made the hike much more difficult than it should have been. Brea and I were both sweating by the time we got there but we managed to get some nice pictures though.
Mouse’s Tank Road
We were never really sure where this road was because there were so many good road picture spots. We spent quite some time taking pictures at this road. If you also attempt this, be cautious of cars on both sides.
Visiting the Valley of Fire was a great experience and it was something different to do while being in Vegas! It would have been more enjoyable if it was less hot but we did go during the summer. This is definitely worth a trip on your itinerary!
