Phuket Big Buddha
We arrived to the Big Buddha sometime in the afternoon so it was pretty crowded and hot at the time. Just like with any other temple in Thailand, you need to not only be respectful but dress respectfully as well.
On the drive up the mountain, you’ll already get a glimpse of the statue. This statue is overwhelmingly massive the closer you get to it. There are a set of stairs that will take you right next to the statue. You can get a pretty good photo here.
Brea flew her drone here but didn’t get too close to the statue. There was another couple who was also flying their drone as well.
Note: Brea is borrowing a scarf from the temple to meet their requirements for their dress code. Loaner clothes are available at the entrance. You can also purchase clothes there.
If you keep walking around, you will also see another smaller gold statue. If you decide to go inside the temple, you will need to take off your shoes. You might be lucky enough to attend a service inside of the Buddha statue.
The Big Buddha statue is an iconic place to visit. It is also near other tourist places like ATV riding, elephant sanctuaries, and other places.
We took a private car through their Lyft/Uber version called Grab App. You can also rent a driver through that same app for a good rate. Depending on your itinerary, that might be a better deal. You can also find random drivers along the side of the road that you can pay to take you. You can haggle with them.
If you are adventurous, you can also rent a moped!
